Update on Anna's Hospital Stay

We had hoped that Anna would have been at home a week ago, but she is still in the hospital. The issue has been her lack of appetite. She has had little interest in food, and has had to be nourished through an IV. The doctors have been quite concerned that she would not heal without enough calories. As one of the surgeons said yesterday, "She had the mother of all urinary surgeries, and she needs all the nutrition she can get in order to heal".
The last couple of days she has started to eat a bit better and, although it's still not enough, she's moving in the right direction. Our hope is that she will be released before the weekend.

Sending very positive thoughts your way and lots of hope that Anna will be sleeping in her own house this weekend. She sounds alot like my Ben during his cleft surgery... you are supposed to go home early on day 3 and we were still in the hospital on iv pain meds on day 6.

Hopefully once this difficult phase in her life has passed you will all be able to relax and get down to the business of being a family :)

My sympathies! It's so hard when you think you can take your child home and you cannot. I hope Anna gets her appetite back soon. It's no fun to be off your food. Sending you lots of support and love! xoxox Sarah

Thanks for the update. I hope Anna gets some of those much needed calories to help her get home soon.
You mean...even cake or chocolate chip cookies don't sound good to her?

Thinking of you and praying for sweet Anna!

It is great to hear Anna is starting to eat some more. We hope the trend continues.

April suggests some of her favorite foods for Anna - tomatoes, cucumbers, bananas, turkey, yogurt (Yoplait Light Boston Cream Pie), skittles, apples, spaghetti, instant noodles, soup, salami, chips, and cake! April also says "Hi" to Anna and her Mama.

Many years ago my son had major kidney surgery, everything went well but he would NOT eat for days and days. It was so hard, it is one thing you are just helpless to make them do. I tried everything and just gave up in tears. I think between anesthesia, pain meds, trauma, fear, hospital foods and sounds, it just was too much. Anna will eat when she can, my son finally gave in to green jello....it us the start to a long and healthy appetite....he now weighs 220# and stands 6 feet!

Love to you all, especially Anna, hoping for some hungry tummy roars soon.
